HOW TO BOOK

The college booking office is open 9:00am - 5:00pm any day of the week.

• By Post. Complete a booking form and send it to Alston Hall with a cheque made payable to "Lancashire County Council".
  If you do not have a booking form, we will need to know:
  Your full name, address including postcode, telephone number, date of birth, and nationality and course details.
• Telephone the college and pay by credit card, switch or debit card
• Pay in person at the College by cheque or cash

COURSE LEVELS

Most courses in this programme are suited to all abilities. Some courses are funded by the Learning & Skills Council and have levels assigned to them. In these cases course information sheets will indicate the course level classification. A copy can be obtained from the College Office, prior to enrolment, if preferred.

HOW MUCH TO SEND

Day Courses, Evenings & Weekly Courses:
Full fees, including the registration fees, are payable at the time of booking.

Residential Courses

• Please call the College Office before making a residential booking to check appropriate accommodation is available. There are two stages to booking a residential course:
  1. Payment of a non-returnable deposit at the time of booking - £10.00 per night. (Optional: Additional cancellation Insurance at £3.00 per night)
  2. Payment of the balance one month before the course starts.
     Please note that to save costs, we do not send reminders.
• Non-residential on residential courses. If you live locally and would prefer not to stay overnight at Alston Hall, you are welcome to attend residential courses at a reduction of £15.00 per night.

SUPPLEMENTS OF RESIDENTIAL ACCOMODATION

Alston Hall has 32 bedrooms and can accommodate up to 49 residents. 23 of the bedrooms have full ensuite facilities and 9 are standard rooms with a washbasin. Tea and coffee making facilities, towels and bathroom packs are available in every room.

Standard rooms do not normally attract a supplement
Ensuite single rooms - £9.00 per night supplement
Ensuite shared rooms - £5 - £6 per person per night

REMISSION OF FEES FOR STUDENTS

You may be entitled to a reduction in course fees if you are in receipt of some benefits. Remission will be granted at the point of production of suitable evidence. All documentation will be stored according to guidance given in the Data Protection Act.

Please note: Not all courses qualify for remission, please check with the College Office for further information. A full list of the remission categories can be seen on the College Noticeboard, or obtained from the College Reception.

TRANSPORT

A college minibus pick-up service is available on request from Preston Railway station (collection point adjacent to the Shopping Centre, not the taxi rank) and the bus station (stand 41) at set times only. This service is only available for residential courses. A charge of £4.00 each way will be made. Please request this service at the time of booking and remember to inform us if you subsequently find you do not require transport assistance.

PRIVATE STUDY AT ALSTON HALL

If you are attending a residential course and would like to bring a friend or partner with you, splease let us know. On request, a price can be calculated dependent upon length of stay and type of accommodation. Your companion can then enjoy a walk round the grounds or a relaxing read in the library and meet up with you at break times.

Overnight accommodation may also be available if you wish to extend your stay or link our day activities together.
